Nach der Beschädigung eines Strommasts in der norditalienischen Provinz Udine ermitteln die Behörden zu einem möglichen Sabotagefall im Umfeld der Transalpine Ölpipeline (TAL). Betroffen ist ein Mast der 132-Kilovolt-Leitung Tolmezzo–Paluzza, der das Stromnetz zur Versorgung des Ölnetzwerks speist. Die Carabinieri befragen Fachleute des Netzbetreibers Terna, der den Schaden am 25. März gemeldet hatte. Ziel der Ermittlungen ist es, die Ursache der Unterbrechung im Stromnetz zu klären, die letztlich zu einem zeitweisen Stopp der Ölversorgung führte.
Videoaufnahmen des italienischen Senders RAI stützen nach Angaben aus Ermittlerkreisen den Verdacht, dass der Mast in einem schwer zugänglichen Gebiet nahe der Grenze zu Kärnten mit einem Schneidbrenner beschädigt worden sein könnte. Eine Sprecherin der TAL betonte gegenüber der Austria Presse Agentur (APA allerdings, dass es sich nicht um einen direkten Angriff auf die Pipeline selbst handle, sondern um einen Schaden an einer Terna-Anlage, die auch die TAL-Pipeline versorgt. Angaben zur Höhe des finanziellen Schadens und zu konkreten Auswirkungen auf den Betrieb machte das Unternehmen nicht.
Die TAL mit einer Gesamtlänge von 753 Kilometern – davon 161 Kilometer auf österreichischem Staatsgebiet in den Bundesländern Kärnten, Tirol und Salzburg – gilt als kritische Infrastruktur für die Energieversorgung in Österreich und Süddeutschland. Die Raffinerie der OMV in Schwechat bezieht ihr Öl laut dem Ölmarktexperten Johannes Benigni von der Energieberatungsfirma JBC Vienna nahezu vollständig über diese Leitung. Ohne die TAL habe Österreich „quasi kein Öl, außer das, was wir selber fördern“, sagte Benigni im Ö1-Morgenjournal. Das österreichische Energieministerium teilte dennoch mit, dass zu keinem Zeitpunkt eine kritische Versorgungslage bestanden habe: Die Raffinerie Schwechat habe über ausreichende Rohölbestände verfügt, der Vollbetrieb sei gesichert gewesen, und die Pflichtnotstandsreserven mussten nicht angetastet werden.
In Wien wurde der Vorfall sicherheitspolitisch eng begleitet. Das Innenministerium verwies auf die übliche enge Abstimmung mit den italienischen Sicherheitsbehörden in Fällen, die kritische Infrastrukturen betreffen. Die Direktion Staatsschutz und Nachrichtendienst (DSN) arbeitet nach eigenen Angaben eng mit den Betreibern solcher Anlagen zusammen und berät zu physischen, organisatorischen und hybriden Bedrohungen. TAL kündigte an, die bereits als hoch beschriebenen Sicherheitsvorkehrungen entlang der Pipeline nach dem Vorfall weiter zu verstärken. Der Fall rückt die Verwundbarkeit zentraler Energieadern Europas in den Fokus – auch wenn der aktuelle Zwischenfall die Versorgung Österreichs nach offizieller Darstellung nicht gefährdet hat.
